Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide (VIP) is a synthetic analog of an endogenous 28–amino acid neuropeptide that functions as a pleiotropic signaling molecule across the nervous, immune, and gastrointestinal systems. It primarily exerts effects through VPAC1 and VPAC2 receptors, influencing smooth muscle relaxation, cytokine modulation, and circadian-regulated signaling.
